Hmmn, I don't use core, but all my cards have furigana; but with rt and transparency settings so that I only -see- the furigana when I mouseover.

I snagged they idea from someone else in this forum, but I have this in my card styling (shared between cards):
ruby rt { font-size:15px; opacity:0.0; }
ruby rt:hover { opacity:0.5; }

.cardback ruby rt { opacity:1.0; }

The first two lines give me a muted look furigana-on-mouseover, the third line lets me span the backs of my card with style="cardback" to give me always-on furigana on the back of the card.

EDIT2:
I'm working on decreasing the size of the deck. It turns out that Example1 and Example2 fields use 90% of space. Fell free to delete those fields in the meantime. I'm going to remove the Example2 and then I'll recreate the Example1 field stripping it out of html code.

I think the idea is sound, but I can't really offer any help on the deck, sorry.

I finally finished studying first 6000 words. I'm going to make some improvements to the deck, before I start doing cards in range 6k-10k.

Things that I'll include in the next version:
- Reduced size of the deck, to make this deck usable on mobile devices.
- Kanjified vocab for cards in range 0k - 6k.
- Examples were completely remade.
- Cards were changed to make cards in range 6k-10k look the same as cards in range 0k-6k.
- Some columns were removes to save space / make columns less confusing.
- About 350 duplicated were removed from cards in range 6k-10k.

I have an updated version on my computer. I'm going to publish it within next 2-3 days. I want to make sure that everything works fine, before I release it to public.

Also If anyone is interested in adding the JPLT level to their decks I can share a csv file with just two fields (Index and JLPT) that when imported to the deck will populate a JLPT field.

If you still have that cvs file I would be happy to add that information to this deck.

Sadly, I think I'll be sticking to V18 of this from Ankiweb Sad

I liked -- and was using -- some of the additional data columns which look to be dropped in V19 (from the card previews).

For example:
* vocab-rtk - useful to put on a hint
* original optimized indexes - allowed the user to use Nuke's guide
* vocab-frequency - good to move any frequent terms forward for reading

Using just one example field is definitely an improvement, there were so many!

Oh no, the vocab-rtk was so useful! (I think sentence-rtk was a bit much though) Especially for me, who has a habit of forgetting English words, it helped a lot with that...

Making the deck a smaller probably is a good idea. I am stuck waiting for my phone to complete a full sync before I can sync my days reviews (from my PC) Tongue

Making the deck a smaller probably is a good idea. I am stuck waiting for my phone to complete a full sync before I can sync my days reviews (from my PC)

Examples were taking most of the space. I reduced number of example fields to 1. I replaced html code with Anki tags and I reduced number of examples to 10. This was enough to reduce size of the deck by 2-3 times.

Are there any other columns that you find useful and you would like to be included as well?

I'm thinking about adding the vocab-rtk field to all cards. I'll have to write a script to do that.

I`m thinking about adding additional 4k cards to this deck. Cards in range 10k-14k would consists only of cards that are from jlpt 1-4, but didn`t appear yeat in the 0k-10k range.

4780 words were successfully matched. However, 3204 words from JLPT list didn`t match.
The whole list that I have has a total of 8.1k words.

The actual list would be much lower than 3204, simply because some words were written in a different way.

I made list that shows words that were not found or there was no exact match (kanji field didn`t match, but reading did).
First column contains kanji, second reading. In other column potential candidates are written. I`ll have to go through those lists manually to clean them up and remove duplicates. Unless someone would be so kind to go through that lists and remove duplicates.

JLPT list that I was using contains too many mistakes. I'll try using a different list.

I`ll use list from http://www.tanos.co.uk/jlpt/jlpt1/vocab/
It constains 10k words from JLPT1-5.

I would be very careful with any JLPT list. The ones I looked at contained many items which were in Core but simply in kana form. You can understand why this is the case for the lower JLPTs when you look at their low kanji requirements.

Thanks. Actually, that`s what I did. For each word from JLPT list I add information whenever there exist another word with the same reading or way of writing. That way I am able to quickly spot occurrences of the same word.

I think it's a great idea to add the extra JLPT vocab to the deck, especially since it looks like there's only and extra 1000 or so words.

I appreciate all your hard work, I'm waiting til I you add these and the other things into a v20 before I start core. I don't want to have to contend with merging decks and other complicated things!
