Aren't most of us learning Japanese because it's fun/rewarding/really wanna learn it? I don't get

Same reason people still play games that make them rage, why exercisey folk get pissed when they fail PR attempts at a gym, why everyone who takes the risk of pursuing less stable career routes out of passion do it in the first place. The sheer difficulty of Japanese makes it an overwhelmingly addictive part of my daily routine, because I always know so much more than I did a week ago. It's an intellectual challenge as well as a passion.

LIVE WITH THE CONTRADICTION. Never play it safe, you'll neglect hours of your life. The rewards absolutely bury any perceived sacrifices. Here's a quote out of context:

Quote:Most people play safe. Hence, the status quo prevails.
In other words, nothing gets done. Complacent with low personal achievement? Not saying that's a bad thing, but the opposite certainly isn't.

Of course, this only applies to things you really value and want to do; anything less isn't worth the time. Maybe you ought to remember why you began this journey in the first place, and whether those feelings have changed for better or worse.

Pointless thread. Topic closed. I suggest timeboxing and setting a strict schedule at the same time everyday if you're serious.
