The word "kietsu" - questions for appropriate usage - Kaywinnet - 2013-07-16 Hey all, So as an intermediate-level Japanese language learner, I had a few questions for the pros here about how I'm intending to use this word. Every online dictionary I've consulted has defined "kietsu" as "joy." My middle name is Joy. I'm setting up a website for myself and need to buy a domain name. I'm a fiction writer and an Asian history buff and other things as well, and am looking to brand myself. My first name + middle name combination (Catherine Joy) has been taken and used a million times before. You google it and the results come up with someone who already has that domain name, a band, and a few porn stars. So I've decided to use Kietsu instead, at least for my domain name. I'm not interested in using my last name (it's also dreadfully common and I don't like it much anyway AND as a single women I'll likely change it when I get married and as a writer that could cause confusion), and "Catherine Kietsu" is kinda clever and unique. So my question to you - is "joy" an accurate definition of the word? Can the word be used that way? Is it just a noun? How is it used? Am I using a weird conjugation of the word? Just want to make sure I've got it right before I go and use it.
