First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - tarkonis - 2013-07-16 Hi there, As per the topic, does anyone have a link to a deck that has the pure sentences from Genki (1 2)? I've started adding sentences, but I keep getting a nagging feeling I'd probably be seeing better results at this initial stage using a pre-made deck, and begin adding my own cards when I get to the next level. Thanks for any help you can give? First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - RawToast - 2013-07-16 I can't find one for all the sentences, I think most Genki sentence decks will just be the grammar points. But you can use the following decks to give some structure to your first sentences: ~70 'Easy sentences', some good basic phrases in here. https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2981529575 260 sentences from Genki, as the deck is focused on grammar it doesn't contain all the sentences: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1667434465 Japanese For Everyone sentences (JFE) - 1438 sentences! https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2805233553 First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - tarkonis - 2013-07-16 Thanks for the reply! I checked out the decks, but as you can see from http://japaneselevelup.com/how-to-use-anki-to-master-japanese-part-2-sentences-j-e the sentences need to be in a specific format. I've been working to this format for the first hundred or so sentences but its slow going. I was wondering if anyone had made a genki deck using the JALUP format with audio etc. Thanks again though for your reply.

I feel like the first 1,000 sentences is not a bad idea to make your own. The way I think about it when inputting new sentences it's like pre-studying the cards. You are typing them out word for word and making them your own. I feel it helps cement the sentence in your mind because you created it. Not only that but you get really good practice with the IME (if you're not good with it yet). In JALUP adshap talks about putting minimal english on the card in order to effectively prepare yourself to dive in to the realm of J-J cards. Most new cards I add I usually put 1 maybe 2 english words on the back for new vocab only. Sometimes there are no english words because I already know how to say something (thanks to audiocourses), I just need to learn how it's written and its readings in japanese. I could end up sharing my genki deck but it would not do many people good because I'm the only one who would really understand it. I'm doing 33 new sentences a day to finish the sentences in a month. That's a pretty short timeframe to input sentences. Afterwards I'm going to do core 10k so there is no more making flashcards (the only thing I will modify on that deck is making them J-J). I don't think making my own flashcards is fun but it has some advantages over a premade deck. First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - tarkonis - 2013-07-16 Hi, thanks for your reply. I know what you're saying, I do have a lot of beginner vocab already learned so i'm finding I can skip a lot of sentences. I guess I'm just eager to get learning as inputting the sentences takes a long time. Another side effect of inputting them myself is I am getting faster at using the Microsoft Japanese IME to input Japanese. Thanks for your insight. I'll continue on for now. First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - tarkonis - 2013-07-16 In addition, I have a question regarding the manner in which you are adding your sentences. I am just adding the sentences from the conversation points and the grammar sections. Should I be adding versions of the sentence with different words from the word lists? For example, using the same sentence but substituting the vocabulary? What do you think? First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - ryanjmack - 2013-07-16 I haven't looked in to it that much but I'm pretty sure all the words in the word lists are in the lesson somewhere. However if I'm particularly interested in a certain word I'll make sure I get it in the SRS one way or another. For example I am very cautious when substituting words in to sentences to make sure I don't learn sentences that have the wrong grammar or alter the intended meaning. I have a feeling most of what is in Genki will be in the core decks so I'm not too worried about everything. I am just adding sentences that interest me or I feel would be important to know. If you go through Genki I and II you should easily have more than 1,000 cards no problem. At that point the transition in to J-J should be smooth. First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - ryanjmack - 2013-07-16 no problem! After the first few sentences, they begin following the same i+1 principle. One alternative is to grab any deck of sentences that can be presented like you wish and use MorphMan to order them in i+1. See: http://rtkwiki.koohii.com/wiki/Morph_Man First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - tarkonis - 2013-07-17 I've got the Japanese CorePlus shared deck which is the same ish format as the 6k i think. The problem is the vocabulary word is presented first, where i want it to be in the meaning field, and the sentence is the answer where it should be the question. is there an easy way of reformatting the cards? First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - tarkonis - 2013-07-17 Don't worry, I watched the tutorial on card templates and I think I've got it sorted! I'll let you know how I get on (if your interested).

I have a core 10k deck that doesn't follow the i+1 principle very well. can it analyze my 1,000 self made sentences and core 10k at the same time ordering core 10k to the kanji I know in my personal deck? and then i'm assuming i could maybe use morphman to use both my core and personal decks to order subs2srs? The way morphman works is it creates a database of known facts and then uses that to analyse whatever data you want it to. So you just tell morphman to add words from your homemade deck to the known database (it will differentiate cards you have/haven't studied), and it will remember that when you tell it to sort core 10k.RawToast Wrote:One alternative is to grab any deck of sentences that can be presented like you wish and use MorphMan to order them in i+1. First 1000 Sentence Deck for use with JALUP - Aspiring - 2013-07-17 The addon organizes i+1 cards by skipping redundant sentences. It probably works best after having something like Core2k or Genki in your arsenal since it builds upon previous knowledge for future reference: Code: usable shared decks: |
