How should I re-start? - donkan - 2013-06-27 Hi all, my Japanese interest started about 5 years ago from now. About 2~3 years ago I attended to a Japanese course and finished Minna no Nihongo 1-2, Basic Kanji Book. Well, I was not a good Japanese learner since I also had to study university entrance exams. But I knew about 200 kanji with their stroke orders, my grammar was not also bad. After got rejected by MEXT, I dropped Japanese and haven't involved in for almost 2 years. My classmates got N3 certificate. Now I'm planning to re-start (not resume) learning Japanese. I'm planning to review Minna no Nihongo 1-2 again, to recognize grammar and vocabulary. I know MNN is too boring but I can get over it. My anki decks are ready-to-use. Also planning to start studying Kanji immediately and Core2K. My first goal is passing the N3. I'm not sure if MNN is enough to pass it. Maybe I should get New Kanzan Master JLPT N3? This is my current plan. I'm waiting for your suggestions, thanks! Maybe I should get New Kanzan Master JLPT N3?If you have a definite goal of JLPT N3, you're probably better off studying from JLPT resources rather than the core deck. As you can see here the core 2k/6k doesn't cover the JLPT vocab in the most effective way: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?pid=65607#pid65607 I believe that Minna will get you to ~N4, similarly to Genki I+II. You could supplement the grammar with either the DoBJG or a JLPT specific book. How should I re-start? - donkan - 2013-06-28 It looks so. Which one would you prefer if you were in my shoes?
