I haven't been doing very well this round. I figure the things I have to pay for are more important to do well in. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - RawToast - 2014-06-25 tashippy Wrote:In English maybe! Now that England are out, my interest has faded... a littleRawToast Wrote:Not a good weekend, I need to get back on track -- this 'World Cup' thing is rather distracting!Haha, yes, but it's not bad for the speaking, eh?! I couldn't find the Japan games on NHK radio; although, I imagine the rest of the games are shown in Japanese on some online steam.I managed to get back to reading a few lyrics last night (makes reading/listening nice and easy, since I can listen to music at work). 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - sholum - 2014-06-29 You know what road trips are good for? Reading. Not much to look at when all you can see is concrete and vehicles driving on said concrete. Of course, this is in the event that you're not the one driving. That's why there's a sudden spike in activity for me. Also, I noticed that my Japanese reading speed and endurance are much better than I remembered, so I'm going to go for my goal between today and tomorrow (only a hundred away, not a big deal). A question: for those of you who play games that aren't on the computer, how do you count screens? Do you even bother entering them? I've been estimating based on how much it felt like I read and then cutting back on that estimate by upwards of 25%, to try and make sure it's less than I actually read (it's not like I'm going to win a cash prize by buffing my score). Also, that character counting thing for computer VNs is great. It's much faster than counting the blocks of text. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - Danchan - 2014-06-30 Hmm. Well darn. Just now realized again that I could change the language of my steam games. I could be a few hundred pages ahead for that... oh well. That was enjoyable. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - Stian - 2014-07-01 I can't say I'm unhappy with finishing 8th; I knew it from the start that I couldn't compete with the video gamers. :p 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - caivano - 2014-07-01 I did this a few times and it was great for study. As far as numbers of pages the best thing to do is to compete with yourself because the way pages are counted doesn't really work. At one point I was reading BECK and BAKUMAN (both manga) and I realised that BAKUMAN had about 6x as much text per page as BECK. So tadoku protip - read BECK
多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - sholum - 2014-07-01 Couldn't even complete my goal... At least I didn't go the entire contest without a single page read, like so many others. Oh well, there's always next time. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - tashippy - 2014-07-01 I surpassed my goal by seven pages on the last day, and earned a half-page lead over the person who had been in front of me (who also hadn't read anything for a few days). Slow and steady folks! 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - RawToast - 2014-07-01 sholum Wrote:Couldn't even complete my goal... By the way, found something even better for counting game screens (counts the screens, though, not the point value); copy and paste from ITH into a text editor that has line numbers, add one to the total if there's not a blank line at the bottom and divide by two (there'll be two lines per screen). Not entirely accurate (I checked it a few times and it was always lower than what I got from dividing the number of characters to get the page). I can't wait for the results from this past half round. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - znebr47625 - 2014-09-18 sholum Wrote:Track your language learning progress as you read 100 books and watch 100 movies before the 31st of December 2015.arnaldosfjunior Wrote:https://twitter.com/langchallenge/An explanation, please. As for the 100 movies, I don't know that many, yet. Also 100 BluRays would cost way too much, so this part will be tricky... But I'm totally in for the books! 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - znebr47625 - 2014-09-19 https://twitter.com/6WCBot/ Note that you can only do the 6 Week Challenge with a language that you're a beginner at or lower-intermediate at most. Then again, I'm still anxious for the results of the last half-round. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - Aikynaro - 2014-10-07 I actually read less during the last Tadoku challenge than I normally do without it. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - RawToast - 2015-01-05 Zgarbas Wrote:If you're as bad as me, you remembered and signed up, but then haven't read anything anyway >.<That was me last time ![]() Time to make my goal for once. I manage to sneak in the odd news article at work (a couple of articles lunch or one during a build), to keep the counter going. There have been 3 or 4 articles on the situation in France, I am not sure how useful the vocab will be: テロ, etc. I am completing a ton of lessons on iTalki for the challenge (and the $9 trial at Japonin) this month to improve my speaking, but I hope I can manage the goal. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - RawToast - 2015-03-16 A heads up for anyone who missed this. The current round began yesterday and will finish on the 31st. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - CureDolly - 2015-05-28 The next Read More or Die Tadoku challenge starts next month (ie in a few days). Is anyone joining? It is Twitter-based, so you need an account. If you don't have one, why not set up a Japanese-only one for the purpose? If you do, feel free to tweet me and I'll follow you (@CureDolly). I don't tweet a lot these days but probably will a bit more during the Contest. Visual novels and anime subs count, which is nice! We will also have a thread at the KawaJapa forums for anyone who wants to chat about it in Japanese. I expect to be in the bottom few as I am not a fast reader, so don't worry if you are too. It should be fun. 多読 Tadoku Reading Challenge - Splatted - 2015-05-31 I'm in and the round has now started (at least in England). Who else is doing it? Edit: Rank 1! This will definitely last
