RTK3 deck for Anki - misha - 2008-01-12

Available here: http://serious-sam.net/stuff/Heisig-bis.anki

It was generated from the following file (UTF-8): http://serious-sam.net/stuff/rtk3.txt

Could someone have a look at it and confirm that I haven't messed anything up? Thanks.

Resolve, can you sneak this into the next Anki release?

Misha

RTK3 deck for Anki - zazen666 - 2008-01-17

Hi Misha,
I checked out the deck and lots accurate. Also, new GUI plug in is nice.

However I am having a problem getting my RTK3 data into anki, since I have already previously moved the data over for RTK1 from this site.

Here is the issue: since I already have moved the data for RTK1 over and have been reviewing with Anki, the export to excell feature on this site is no longer the most current for RTK1, (although it is for RTK3, since I have still been doing RTK3 reviews on this site).

So what I tried to do today was just move RTK3 data over, but for some reason I can get it to sync right with anki.

I first tried creating a whole Heisig deck(using RevTK data), and removing all RTK1 data, so that only RTK3 data would sync, but that didnt work and removed my RTK1 cards (I was able to restore with a back up of mydeck).

So, how can I get my RTK3 cards and data into my deck, which already contains RTK1 as well as sentences and such?

Hello zazen666,

Thanks for having a look at the deck.

You should still be able to use the flashcards_status.txt file from kanji.koohii.com, even through it may be out of date. The import plugin should update only the data that has _not_ been reviewed in Anki, so if you haven't reviewed any of the RTK3 cards in Anki you should be able to import them without any problems. Have you tried doing this? If you have, what was the output of the plugin (the dialog box which says what cards were updated/skipped)?

Misha

Hey
Here what I just tried.
I add the RTK3 deck to my sampledeck folder.
I open MYDECK, which contains the origianl Heisig deck that comes with anki.
I try the plugin

I get these two messages
RTK1 cards: Already been reviewed.

RTK3: Not present in deck

Now, this is different from what I tried before and explained above.
It is pretty clear what I have tried?

Thanks for the clarification. I don't think that adding the RTK3 deck to your sampledeck folder will actually add the cards from the RTK3 deck to your sampledeck. This would explain why you get the "Not present in deck" message for all RTK3 cards.

You'll need to get the cards across to your deck somehow. You generally have two options:

1) Merge by syncing with server. I believe that we discussed this on another thread recently.
2) Use the import feature in Anki (Deck/Import) to import the cards from the RTK3 deck. This is the easier and simpler option.

Let me know how it goes.

Misha

Edit: don't need to worry about duplicates with step 2).

Well, step 2 appears to have done it, and I didn't need to delete any cards.
Thanks again for putting such a usefull plugin together and helping me get it going!

I've just tried doing it myself. The Anki import process is clever enough to ignore the duplicates. I'll edit my original post to avoid confusing anyone who reads this later.

You're welcome, thanks for checking out the new deck and testing the plugin.
