Length of reviews after finishing - Hirakana - 2013-05-08 Hi everyone! I am aiming to finish RTK on the 1st June, however, I will be going on holidays for 2 weeks 22 days after I finish. Is 22 days enough time to review after finishing RTK in your opinion? Thanks. EDIT: I will not have internet access Length of reviews after finishing - Haych - 2013-05-08 Considering I did something like that the first time, and had to start RTK all over from scratch last fall, I'm gonna say no. The whole attitude that you can stop reviewing pretty much goes against the whole idea of SRS. The point of SRS is that after you review for long enough, the amount of effort you need to sustain that knowledge becomes very minimal. But still, if you drop it, you'll start to forget. So after that trip, I'd recommend doing around 100 reviews / day or something manageable until the review pile is gone. It shouldn't be that bad, because those 22 days will allow you to clear the young cards. The reviews you'll have to do will be mature cards that you'll likely still be able to pass easily. (Went from 15/day to 30/day after I switched..) (Just in case you're using this site, which you can't use without internet access, unlike Anki) Length of reviews after finishing - Hirakana - 2013-05-08 Alright, so I guess I have to move my RevTK flashcards to Anki. Thanks everyone ![]() Just a question, does Anki treat the kanji as new cards or are the intervals set by the boxes they're in in RevTK? Length of reviews after finishing - sholum - 2013-05-08 Will you have access to a computer? Even if you don't have internet access, you can still backup Anki on a flash drive and do reviews like that. Then, when you get home, you just update your Anki installation folder with the copy. EDIT: Just realized you meant this site when you said 'RTK'... My advice should still apply though. That is, unless you have a laptop, in which case it's completely useless. Length of reviews after finishing - Thora - 2013-05-08 Hirakana, I'd consider just putting RTK on hold and enjoying your summer holiday (assuming that's what it is). 2 weeks is not a big deal and you can just resume reviewing when you get back. Use your own judgement, of course. If your friends or family are lazing about reading, no one is likely to mind if you're doing SRS reps on your phone. But if you're concerned about keeping up with your SRS reps while everyone else is doing fun stuff together, that might prevent you from fully enjoying your break (and your friends or family might resent it.) Besides, sometimes a refreshing break can really improve motivation when you resume! Also, you might want to focus on RTK right now rather than spending time learning how to use anki and how to transfer your stuff over. (btw, I looked at your blog - good luck with your studies! About ajatt, I realize the site can be rather confusing since much of the advice has changed over the years (and he has stated he's unwilling to mark the relevant articles as outdated*), but I wanted to point out that he no longer recommends "constant immersion". So please don't feel you need to shut out everything and everyone else in order to achieve your language goals. If you are unsure about other advice you're reading, you should ask questions so that you can make informed choices about how to spend your time. People are here to help.) *An exception was made, however, to notify folks that his "revolutionary" new method, fill-in-the-blank, was replacing 10K sentences and was for sale. Does that mean you can transfer all the cards/info and can resume on Anki with all the cards at their current intervals?
