Let's practice translating! Post a link to an article, or a short passage from anywhere, and then your translation. If people have suggestions to improve a translation, feel free to post them.
It also might be a good idea to post translation notes, which might be helpful to other learners. You can also ask for advice about how to translate something you don't understand or aren't sure how to translate.
I have a translation test coming up as part of a job interview, so I thought I'd practice translating the type of things that might appear on the test. It might be funner if other people are involved, so I thought I'd start a thread. The first lesson I've learned is that I should start reading business articles in English too to help with my phrasing.
My first article, somewhat hastily done:
"On May 7th, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at more than 15,000 USD. It is the highest Dow closing since the recession, with an increase in stock purchases motivated by expectations of a fundamental improvement in the economy.
The New York Stock Exchange experienced a surge of stock purchases on May 7th as newly released statistics showed an increase in the number of employed workers, seen as an important sign of economic improvement.
As a result of this, the Dow closed at a record-breaking $15,056.29, an improvement of $87.31 over the previous day.
“The markets have relaxed in America, Japan, and elsewhere. A trend towards economic improvement in American and Japanese markets has created a situation where money is being made more easily, which will hopefully continue for some time,” said a market official."

You might consider translating articles from the Mainichi Shinbun. A lot of their articles get translated so when you are done you can click the English link at the bottom right and see how they translated it.

Bloomberg also tends to have a lot of things translated back and forth, but they aren't nicely linked. Still you can often pick out an article you know will have made the English page and then it's easy to find.

What may be useful to yourself and learners on this forum is to also make translator notes at the end of the translation. I am at a MUCH lower level than you but every now and then I translate some paragraphs, each time I do this I make translator notes on sections that I changed a lot, for example how you changed the initial meaning of the Japanese sentence to make more sense in English. It's always nice to see the thought behind the translations and can show how a person got a different translation from some one else.
Or you may normally do that and just didn't come across anything interesting! I would add a translation here but my level is so low that I will probably drop everyone's IQ down a couple of notches if I did!
