window 7 japanese input error - tendou - 2013-03-05 today suddenly when I type in Japanese ganbarimashou this word come out. きちみこちすにもちとくらな i don't know what suddenly went wrong. window 7 japanese input error - Lucas55 - 2013-03-05 I looks like you, without realising, switched your IME from Romaji input to Kana input. Basically what this means is that each key maps to an individual kana instead of the roman letters. Have a look at this image for example: http://i.stack.imgur.com/996lu.gif You can see that the keys "ganba..." for example map to きちみこち... instead of がんば... All you need to do is go into the properties (or whatever your IME uses) and change your input method to Romaji instead of Kana (that's what they are called in the Google IME that I'm using). window 7 japanese input error - tendou - 2013-03-05 ありがとうございます! Now I can type in Japanese again. :-) window 7 japanese input error - Stian - 2013-03-05 Sorry for hijacking... but I often experience that it switches between romaji and kana inputs by itself.. is there some sort of default hotkey that I keep pressing? window 7 japanese input error - Lucas55 - 2013-03-05 Stian Wrote:Sorry for hijacking... but I often experience that it switches between romaji and kana inputs by itself.. is there some sort of default hotkey that I keep pressing? If I use the default Microsoft IME that comes with Windows I can use [Ctrl + Shift + Caps Lock] to toggle the "Kana Status". If Kana status is on then you will be typing in Kana mode, if not then it's Romaji mode. If you are in direct input mode and press [Ctrl + Shift + Caps Lock] you will be automatically put into Hiragana input mode and Kana Status will be turned on if it was previously off, or off if it was previously on. If you press it while already in Hiragana mode then it will behave the same as above, except there is no need to be automatically switched into Hiragana input mode. Anyway, [Ctrl + Shift + Caps Lock] is the shortcut for the default Microsoft IME. I use the Google IME and it doesn't seem to have any affect with it, so either the Google IME shortcut for kana status is different or doesn't exist. window 7 japanese input error - Stian - 2013-03-05 Thanks. ![]() I use the Windows IME... and I might have accidentially pressed it several times when switching to IME (ctrl+caps) after switching the keyboard language to JP. window 7 japanese input error - devilsbabe - 2013-03-05 One shortcut that's saved me a bunch of time and that I didn't know about for a long time is [Alt + Caps Lock]. It'll switch between entering romaji, hiragana or katakana (your keys are still roman letters) window 7 japanese input error - Stian - 2013-03-05 F7 is also useful for making the entire inputted string into katakana without changing the input settings.
window 7 japanese input error - znebr47625 - 2013-03-24 By the way, how can I input this 『』 ? window 7 japanese input error - tashippy - 2013-03-24 arnaldosfjunior Wrote:By the way, how can I input this 『』 ?I don't know any quick way. I usually spell out their name, "kakko" and scroll down until I find the one left bracket or the right or the two. After you do it once, though, IME should move them higher up in the suggestion priority list. window 7 japanese input error - headphone_child - 2013-03-24 those show up under [ and ] (square brackets) for me. window 7 japanese input error - uisukii - 2013-03-25 arnaldosfjunior Wrote:By the way, how can I input this 『』 ?[using Windows 7 on a laptop keyboard] hit the [ key next to your "p" key, resulting in 「 while using Japanese IME. It should have three little black dots under the character when initially hitting the key, this allows for pressing the spacebar key to display a drop-down list of alternatives. Select the character you want with either the cursor or arrow key then click/press enter. |
