Ideas for Curriculum - imabi - 2013-02-03 I thought that this would be a perfect place to talk about this. I've been spending a lot of time trying to make my curriculum at http://www.imabi.net as best as possible, but it sucks being a one person team. Many hours go to waste because there isn't a flow of things to work on that don't take forever. Despite this, last month the average size of a lesson went from 9-10 pages to 5-7. I hope this will go a long ways in making things more reader friendly. I want to really get into grammar discussions. There are a lot of smart people here. I'm sure whatever gets discussed will be good material and practice for others. In order to make things more palatable, we'll deal with things in small quantities. Let's begin with Lesson 80 http://imabi.net/l80thevolitionali.htm/. This is about the volitional. I think it's too large. It needs to become more reader friendly. Note: The Kanji at the top of each lesson is the first feature installed for the Kanji curriculum that is being incorporated to the site. Currently only two lessons have it fully implemented. Depending on how long it takes, I was hoping to bring up one to two grammar sections a day. Everyone is free to go elsewhere and bring up other things are points of interest that you found in your own studies that you think would be interesting and or helpful. これからもお互い頑張りましょう。 Ideas for Curriculum - Zgarbas - 2013-02-04 Not curriculum related, but you might want to change the website to redirect all extinct/inexistent areas to the main page. E.g. I had a lesson bookmarked with no longer exists, and instead of going to the main page/imabi website with a "this page does not exist" it gave me a generic "this website doesn't exist" page. Ideas for Curriculum - imabi - 2013-02-04 Anyone that's had to deal with webs knows that isn't an option. As I am computer stupid, I can't do that. I wish I can. Now, the reason why those pages don't work is because the URLs have changed due to a lot of upgrades. For instance, the names of the lessons in the drop menus. That all made those links bad. Ideas for Curriculum - Zgarbas - 2013-02-04 Not really, I can't be the only one to bookmark a lesson instead of the homepage, and that's the kind of error you get when the main page does not exist. If you weren't a poster here I'd just have assumed you closed down the site. Ideas for Curriculum - imabi - 2013-02-04 That is exactly what webs does when you change the URL to a page. You mess around with it and you'll see. Ideas for Curriculum - imabi - 2013-02-04 I even asked the people just now and they said they couldn't do that. I didn't say I didn't believe that this way happening. I know exactly that it does. However, even still when it sends you to that page the tab still shows the logo. I don't know what their problem is, but there is a range of small issues that they could probably easily fix but don't because the leadership is incompetent. Looking at your 404 pages, the webhost will probably not allow you to change this ![]() It'd be a lot of work to change the site now to something like Wordpress. You have so much content... Ideas for Curriculum - imabi - 2013-02-04 I wouldn't even know where to begin with wordpress. I send out notifications periodically about major changes to members. So, that detours people from thinking that the site is gone. |
