Contemplating whether to delete my RTK deck or not - Lavasioth - 2012-12-22 Been learning Japanese for about a year now, probably finished RTK about half a year ago, its come to the point where I'm contemplating to actually delete the deck and stop reviewing it each day. I feel like I'm getting nothing out of it, and its just a waste of time and adds up to the already much time I spend using Anki (As I use it for Mandarin as well) Even one year in, there are still quite a few of the kanji I've never seen as well. With Core6000, my own deck composed of vocab, and rtk it simply takes too much time, and the one most natural to remove is RTK as it seems to provide me no benefit. I still get at least 6 hours of Japanese each day, so I feel like..my kanji won't really degenerate significantly even if I delete it, and it will give me more time to other activities. What do others think, does it come a time, where enough is enough, and its time to part ways with the RTK deck? Contemplating whether to delete my RTK deck or not - howtwosavealif3 - 2012-12-22 That's extreme. Or maybe u can replace the rtk deck with a kakitori deck ( write the kanji after you see the hiragana version) of words u actually want to write. But then again I don't know how much time and effort you put into editing your rtk deck with stories. Another possibility is limit your time with that deck to x minutes a day as opposed to finishing all the reviews for that day. I think you'll regret it come 6 months later etc. u could also suspend cards that you keep failing but never see in real life anyway. The worst case scenario is you'll I suspend it after you come across it . U dont have to be so strict on yourself for no reason. It's your time Personally I edited my rtk deck and changed it into a kakitori deck gradually. Contemplating whether to delete my RTK deck or not - frony0 - 2012-12-22 I'm with ↑ that guy. Although I deleted mine, I started a hiragana->kanji rtk deck in it's place from scratch. But since you're so far ahead in reviewing, I don't think it would be worth starting again. If I were you I would (gradually or instantaneously) change the keywords to japanese. If you're really confident with your writing and you have no doubt that you'll lose nothing from it then you may as well delete it, but I hear that it becomes nearly effortless once you're "done" so to speak, so you're probably not as "done" as you think Contemplating whether to delete my RTK deck or not - Crispy - 2012-12-22 If you know most of the stroke orders I'd just delete it and move on. No sense in punishing yourself. |
