English Translation of sentences/vocab in cards?? - rantony420 - 2012-12-02 Hi. I am a second year uni student with Japanese studies as my minor. We are using Tobira as our textbook for the year and i have already added all the example sentences from the grammar section copying the explanations on the back with english translations of the words i dont know on the back. We also have weekly tests which include translating sentences to and from Japanese, and writing out the kanji/kana and english definition on words. On top of our classroom study we are also meant to create a portfolio of our self study! This is where i can start AJATTing! I am planning to use work to JLPT N2 using some study books, learn some stuff from phrasebooks, particle books, and native material and such. I will also be starting optimized kore 6000 deck aswell. And i am considering using the JSPEC or UBJG for reviewing the basics. Which one would be better considering we used genki in first year? With anki 2 i can organise all these and also keep a vocab deck aswell. The problem is that in 4th year we will be doing lots of translation so, I am not sure if on my self made cards I should be adding english translations to sentences if they already have one in the source (e.g. phrasebook) and use the english translation of unknown words and/or japanese definition? The same problem with vocab cards, should i add the equivalent english translation to aid more accurate translations later on or should i add the japanese definition on the back?
