Hang drum session at Kyoto Uni :) - Zorlee - 2012-11-16

お久しぶりです!
Just wanted to share some music with you guys! Smile
I often practice my Hang (often called Hang drum) outside when the weather is fine, so the other day I brought it along with me to my university and did a quick session in front of the famous clock-tower at Yoshida campus.
It was great fun - and when I was recording this video a kind lady came over to talk to me about my instrument, so there's a little conversation in Japanese in there as well!
I hope you guys like it!

You sound awesome, as always Big Grin

Haha! I bought it three months ago!
It's a pretty rare instrument, but if you get your hands on one it's really simple to play, especially if you play the drums! Smile

And thank you, I really appreciate it Smile

Really really cool. Now I want to get one, either for myself or for one of my drummer friends. Any suggestions on where to look to find one?

Cool sound from that instrument. And good playing too, that was definitely cool!

That's a coincidence. Right when I'm about to start a new thread regarding Kyoto Uni, the newest thread is Kyoto Uni-related.

Anyway, nice playing Wink

Wow, what a magical sound. That was excellent; something I've never heard before. How long have you been playing? Too awesome.

That's a cool instrument. It's nice playing too. How much control do I have over the duration of each note? Does it have some kind of mechanism to mute/sustain individual notes? Or am I supposed to control them by changing where I hit and how hard? I like how it sounds like a mix of a drum and an xylophone.

I think it works similarly to a hand drum and a steel drum. There are no mutes except your hands.
