Hmmm, I realized a problem today with the vocabulary '*' function.
Some of my cards have <div> tags around the word because Anki used to like to create gratuitous divs. However, the vocabulary recognition function doesn't ignore tags. I think there's a strip HTML option on -importing- a deck, but I don't see a way to strip HTML on -export-. It'd be nice if tags were cleanly ignored.
I can probably live with it - it's only a minority of cards and they're all mature, so it only comes up when it's one of those minority -and- I've nearly forgotten it and want to add it again. Still, it would be nice to not have to live with it. (Maybe there's a simple way to strip HTML from a particular field in all cards, but if there is, I don't know it.)
Also a problem for anybody who marks up words deliberately, but I don't know why anyone would.

Yes, you are right, that would be in the “reading” field. But I happen to mark up the “expression” field as well. I have a deck that is based on “Kanji in Context” and as you are probably aware, when a new character is introduced in KiC, they show several examples of usage of that character.
For example, when you study 序 they give you that list:
順序
秩序
序列
年功序列
序文
序論
序曲
In my KiC deck I do:
順序
秩序
序列
年功序列
序文
序論
序曲
As for how to get rid of the gratuitous divs, I would try two approaches:
1. Export the deck to a text file and then re-import with the “ignore HTML” option on.
2. You probably could use the “search&replace” function to remove the unnecessary HTML mark up.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll see about releasing a new version within the next few days to strip HTML tags after reading a line from the word list.

Any chance of a Mac version for this wonderful program? Since the bootleg a couple years ago we're stuck with an ancient version of rikaisama...
For example anki import can't talk with anki any longer since the big update there...
Any charitable programmers want to help the Mac community out?

Why doesn't Rikaisama recognize 卸させる as a valid causative form of 卸す, but recognizes the passive form of 卸される as both?
Edit: it seems this affects all godan す verbs.

It seems that the bug was fixed in one of the beta versions of rikaichan. I'll see about merging the fix into Rikaisama soon.

I'll see about adding more EPWING slots within the next two weeks or so.

I'm using 新明解国語辞典 as the first EPWING source, and a bunch of others afterwards.
The problem is generalized, though. Try these long expressions from EDICT:
知的所有権の貿易関連の側面に関する協定
消去及びプログラム可能読取り専用記憶装置
公共土木施設災害復旧事業費国庫負担法
国際連合大量破壊兵器廃棄特別委員会

Ah. Maybe I'll add another fallback option for such behavior.
